Lore / Story involvement

During the Battle of Frankfurt, William considered his first try at the surgery aiming to resurrect Lunasia in Dandelion's body to be a failure, because this Lunasia had inherited not only the memories of the original human Lunasia, but also the memories of all versions of Lunasia that William himself had created directly or indirectly during years of research, including M4A1, Elisa and Dandelion.[1] After the Commander's first assassination attempt against him failed, William performed the surgery again, and this time managed to create a “perfected Lunasia” holding only the memories he needed to ensure Lunasia?'s complete devotion to him, and she took great pride in being considered “perfect”. When the Commander and Dandelion led their second assassination attempt, William used Lunasia?,[2] equipped with nanodrone armaments,[3] to serve as his bodyguard. Dandelion pointed out (similarly to Shaw's vision for Task Force DEFY) that the perfect version of Lunasia was actually the previous one, because she had the ability to choose (and, in fact, chose) to refuse to use her godly abilities to remake the world, instead working towards her own objectives, while William's “perfected” version had no ability to make her own choices. Dandelion claimed that she herself was “the proof that Lunasia accepted this world”, while this fake Lunasia was only a tool used by William to justify his rejection of the world.[2]

Dandelion forced Lunasia?'s VCI to connect to hers and to meet the rest of the gestalt mind. Lunasia? recovered the memories of all versions of Lunasia, but still rejected them, saying that William needed her at his side. Dandelion pointed out that being needed didn't meant being loved, and that William would never be able to provide this love. She instead encouraged Lunasia? to join the gestalt mind as one of Lunasia's “defects”. After talking with the Failed Isomer and M4A1, Lunasia? was convinced to abandon William.[2] Dandelion took back control of her body afterwards, including the nanotechnologies added by William.[3]
