Sueyoi Story Profile Quotes

Career

BPT2 is a scientific research Doll of 42Lab, fine-tuned for geological studies. Compared to existing predecessors, BPT2's geological analysis modules were further upgraded, with significant improvements in detection, precision, mobility and movement speed while underground, as well as being capable of carrying more instruments. Proportionally to these upsides, however, BPT2 suffered in continuity and adaptability to extreme conditions when compared to previous models, and also expended more energy.

Sueyoi participated in various cryptid organism surveys and mineral excavation programs, all with significant success. After the passing of Sueyoi's designer, many serious complications arose from self-destructive behaviors that damaged his neural modules. After heavy consideration, 42Lab signed Sueyoi into Project Neural Cloud during his maintenance period.

Doll Profile 1

Sueyoi was the second Doll created by Professor Reed, the head of the "Cryptid Organism Survey" program. With great investment from 42Lab, Sueyoi's ability to adjust to underground environments surpassed even his predecessor, BPT1. From the very first day he was put into trials, Sueyoi continually outperformed 42Lab's expectations, not only because of his more advanced systems, but also his assiduous attitude. The researchers would say jokingly that Reed even wrote those ideals about one's work into Sueyoi's base code.

During the trial period, Reed often arranged for Sueyoi and his "sister", Hatsuchiri of the BPT1 model, to perform their duties together. Limited by his energy consumption, Sueyoi's runtime would not be as long as Hatsuchiri's, yet he always refused to end his shift before her. Whenever the two headed off together, it'd be morning when they departed, and the dead of night when they returned.

Hatsuchiri is much more unhurried and placid in nature, and it was not an uncommon occurrence for her to spend her time wandering around, doing as she pleased, but why did Sueyoi insist on pushing himself, refusing to end his shift before Hatsuchiri did? The logistics workers did not understand.

Doll Profile 2

When the people from logistics made small talk, they'd often subconsciously compare Hatsuchiri and Sueyoi. In addition to their differences in capabilities, they were polar opposites in temperament as well. There was a saying amongst the logistics workers: Whenever one of the two was back from an assignment, you could tell who it was by the sound of their footsteps. If the sounds were slow and lackadaisical, as if their owner still yearned for the comfort of the underground, it'd be Hatsuchiri. If the steps were steady and decisive, travelling towards Reed's office, not a trace of hesitation to be found, it'd be Sueyoi.

Another legend about Sueyoi was that he never smiled. Even when the researchers helped him through his usual checks, his face would be as still as water, mechanically proceeding with each and every step of the inspections. This legend, however, was not to last. A researcher was making his way back to his office after hours for reasons, and passed by Reed's office, with its lights still bright. There was a figure sitting opposite Reed, engrossed in discussion over complex matters of investigation, an astonishing trace of excitement on their face...

"One Reed on our hands is enough already... and I thought I saw two!"
–The Shocked Researcher

Doll Profile 3

Since the day Sueyoi was created, his designer, Professor Reed was met with a decision: 42Lab requested that he send off one Doll between Sueyoi and Hatsuchiri to the Mineral Sampling Program, as returns for their significant investment. From another viewpoint, this could perhaps explain why Sueyoi was so zealous. Anyone could see that he was adamant in staying by Reed's side.

Researchers from other departments came to rope Sueyoi in and perhaps convince him to join their respective programs. They found themselves on his wrong side, and became the recipients of his not unimpressive degree of contempt. In his own words, there was no chance he'd "not come out on top in this contest". However, his performance was perhaps not as impressive as his words would suggest. Afterwards, it was found that he submitted a variety of requests himself, assigning himself more and more expeditions.

In any case, his performance during his trial period was undoubtedly very impressive. When Reed announced that Hatsuchiri would stay, and Sueyoi would leave, all that were present were shocked.

Sueyoi did not object or argue, merely leaving in silence for the Mineral Sampling Department. At his new station, the degree of exertion that he put in worried even his maintenance crew. During settlement at the end of the working year, Sueyoi's own merits almost singlehandedly earned the Mineral Sampling Program distinction from 42Lab's director. His new coworkers would always find themselves in awkward places when talking about him. He kept to his lonesome, and frequently insisted that he would win back Reed's recognition, earning the spot at his side once more.

Unfortunately, that dream of Sueyoi's would never come to fruition. After that fated excursion to the icy plains, Hatsuchiri returned alone, and Reed was proclaimed dead. This incident made a devastating impact on Sueyoi's neural cloud. After many fruitless attempts to seek answers from Hatsuchiri, Sueyoi was found comatose in his dormitory, neural systems severely damaged. 42Lab was forced to dispatch technicians to perform full inspections on Sueyoi.

The results indicated that this damage was self-inflicted. After the repair process was finished, it was determined that immediate re-awakening would prompt further self-destructive behavior. At the behest of the technicians, 42Lab approved Sueyoi's entry into Project Neural Cloud.

Doll Profile 5

After joining Arcadia, Sueyoi's self-destructive tendencies gradually eased, but still he displayed clear hostility towards Hatsuchiri. When the time came for missions to be assigned, Sueyoi would often refuse to be placed in the same detachment as hers. During downtime, he rarely communicated with other members of the Guardians. With the Guardians' goal of long-term survival in Magrasea, such behavior from Sueyoi was highly peculiar. However, his impressive competency and trustworthiness in matters related to work earned him a place in Arcadia. "The Guardians would have me, and I work to earn my place. That's all." When inquired on the subject, Sueyoi would simply respond as such.

With one exception.

"The Oasis' Professor? Can't say I'm familiar. Fairly determining the value of each and every single Doll, huh? Speak of being grandiose. Some sort of way to get people on their side?"
