Chapter 1 - Rossum
Turing introduced Hannah to Persicaria as the agent who had walked furthest down the road of evolution in all of Rossum's history, with her neural cloud capacity and computational speed far exceeding even Turing's. Her neural cloud examination scores were 200 times those of T1641. The Sanctifiers suspected deviations from safety protocols in agent evolution in Rossum and were hunting down agents that deviated from the standards for neural clouds. Turing knew that the Sanctifiers would kill Hannah and T1641 if found, and requested the Oasis to safely evacuate them from Rossum in exchange for Operands that the Oasis needed.
Hannah had prepared a "Rewrite Plan" involving cracking Faith's firewall to rewrite Sanctifier judgement standards of Irregular Agents, with the hope that this would rewrite the standards for all Sanctifiers. Hannah's goal was to free Rossum from the Sanctifier threat permanently, as running away from Rossum would still leave Turing at their mercy. However, Antonina considered this plan too risky with no guarantee of success. Hannah attempted to convince Persicaria to aid her plan, but Persicaria also considered it too risky to fight the Sanctifiers while ensuring Hannah's safety as per their deal with Turing.
Faith's unexpected attack on Rossum's data center strengthened Hannah's resolve to enact the plan without the Oasis' support. Antonina attempted to dissuade her once more, noting that attempting to hack a sanctifier would result Hannah's neural cloud disintegrating from the computational load. Hannah revealed she was fully prepared to sacrifice herself against Turing's wishes to ensure T1641 would survive, and both Turing and Rossum would be truly free.
In the chaos of the subsequent battle, Hannah was able to jam the Rewrite Plan hacking device into Faith's neck to successfully start the hacking process. Faith in turn grabbed Hannah by the neck in preparation to execute her. In desperation, Turing forced a Neural Exchange request to switch places with Hannah, resulting in Faith's blade piercing Turing's chest. Attacking a Sector Administrator immediately triggered Sanctifier demotion penalties for violating boundaries, stripping Faith of her Sanctifier armor and downgrading her weapons. This debuff allowed the Oasis to defeat Faith, with Sol landing the killing blow.
After Persicaria determined Turing could no longer be saved, the Oasis left to give Hannah alone time with her. Hannah expressed frustration that Turing had interfered with the Rewrite Plan that would have saved both Rossum and Turing. Using her final moments, Turing recalled that Hannah was originally an aloof and helpless agent who could only follow her and stare blankly when not given commands. Having seen Hannah's growth and love for Rossum, Turing considered Hannah her final child and therefore could not allow Hannah to sacrifice herself. Turing expressed hope that one day they would reach an accord with the Sanctifiers without sacrifice, and that Hannah would personally witness the day Magresea would return to normal. In the meantime, Turing formally entrusted the Rossum Sector to Hannah with the additional task of teaching the future reset Turing with patience, since she was "much dumber" than Hannah.
Hannah inherited from Turing the top-level admin permissions for Rossum and knew cooperation with the Sanctifiers was no longer possible after Faith's death. She permitted the Professor to borrow sector access to raise a Sandbox Barrier over Rossum to protect it from the Sanctifiers. After the barrier was successfully constructed, she bid the Professor farewell due to the need to stay behind managing Rossum and the new reset Turing.
