Minigames
Minigames are non-competitive, unique levels featured in events, that use a fundamentally different gameplay than the rest of the event's missions. They are separate from “events mechanics” which superficially alter normal gameplay during the event.
Luffberry Chess is not considered a minigame as it is a separate and permanent game mode with its own sets of rewards and seasonal ranking. For the announced Dorm PVP mode in Neural Cloud, see PNC Dormitory.
Minigames were introduced in Isomer three years after the game launched. They can be either mandatory levels that must be beaten to continue the event, or optional levels. Minigames are distinct from so-called "puzzle maps", which rely on normal gameplay mechanics but only accept a small number of solutions (similar to chess problems), and “ranking maps”, which rely on normal gameplay mechanics and uses a scoring system to create a leaderboard of players and provide rewards for high scorers.
Early minigames needed to overcome the limitations of the game engine, such as entering a combat sequence from a simple tactical screen before the minigame could start. A common description for minigame controls among the player base is “clunky”.
Main events
The level called “Above the Hubbub III” features Task Force DEFY using motorbikes to rush after M16A1 and Beak. It is a reaction game where the player must respond to different threats from the enemy on the right side of the screen and deplete its health bar by using the correct abilities, while keeping the health bars of friendly units above zero. AR AN-94AN-94AN-94's ability will dodge missiles hitting the ground, AR ST AR-15ST AR-15ST AR-15's ability will shoot down directly incoming missiles, AR AK-12AK-12AK-12's ability will block incoming lasers, and AR M4A1M4A1M4A1's ability will deal extra damage the enemy.
“Above the Hubbub IV” is a side-scroller where M4A1 alone must navigate along three lanes to avoid obstacles and close the distance to the enemy before it reaches the end of the level. The first skill makes her go up one lane, the second makes her go down one lane, the third enables her to jump over all-lanes obstacles, and the fourth one temporarily increases her speed. Each collision with an obstacle will enable the enemy to increase the gap.

The level called “All-Devouring Sea of Flowers” in Chapter 5 is a horizontal versus-shoot'em'up where AR M4A1M4A1M4A1 must deplete the health bar of Isomer Black, who is moving along the right edge of the screen, while avoiding to have her own health bar depleted by enemy attacks. M4A1 can move in two dimensions on the right and center parts of the screen and fires continually in a straight line, while Isomer Black will use attacks of varying trajectories (reminiscent of Touhou Project bullet patterns) and summon other enemies. M4A1 can also use three abilities: a burst of five homing shots, a temporary shield, and a damage boost.
Most of the difficulty comes from judging distances and positions with the isometric camera. It can be played in either Normal or Hard difficulty.
The optional level called “Rooftop Dash” is a 2D platform game where Angelia must jump from platform to platform. The level does not autoscroll, but the distance of the jump depends on how long the jump button is held, which makes judging the jump distance difficult. The width of the platforms also vary, with the difficulty level increasing depending on whether the player chose Normal, Hard or Nightmare mode.
It is often considered by fans to be the hardest minigame in the game.
The optional level “One-Sided Recollection” in Chapter 2 is a wave-clearing game where the player must clear eight enemy waves of increasingly dangerous composition by choosing among four power-ups between each wave. The basic player unit causes a constant stream of damage and can use a shield and an extra attack. Power-ups have a variety of effects such as granting extra combat stats, extra shields, or summoning support units. Once the boss of the last wave is cleared, the player can choose to "Calculate" and settle the mission, or enable Infinity mode and continue facing more waves until their health bar is depleted. "Calculate" is also available at any time from the pause menu, meaning that the level can be cleared without completing any wave.
Players could receive up to 3000 gems by playing up to the 22nd wave in the fastest time possible.[1][2]
The level “Endgame Chaos centi” is arguably a minigame since it relies on displacement nodes to build a tower defense game. Enemies can spawn from several locations each turn and will automatically travel over successive displacement nodes in a single turn (like on a conveyor belt) towards the position of Kryuger and Helian. Deployment points can be used to deploy members of AR Team at certain spots along the “conveyor belt” to whittle down enemy forces and make the fights easier. The level is completed after surviving six waves capped by a boss fight against an Ares.
The post-credits level “Alaya-Vijnana” is a horizontal side-scroller where the player can only reveal the full screen and see the obstacles to avoid by using a power limited to seven uses.
-
Alaya-Vijnana.
The post-story optional missions “Simulation I” through “Simulation IV” are tactical combat minigames. Player units are moved on a grid and can take cover at designated points to reduce incoming damage when they enter enemy range. Player abilities can be used to provide fire support, and each player unit comes with its own abilities.
The level "Third Contact" is a very simple button-mashing minigame where the player must mash the ability button fast enough to "expand the Lunar Domain" of RF SCAR-HSCAR-HSCAR-H and win a reverse tug-of-war against AR SCAR-LSCAR-LSCAR-L by pushing the center line all the way to the right side of the screen.
Other events
In multiple levels through the event, an optional Fail boss could be found and had to be attacked with HG ClearClearClear to be defeated. Upon defeat, a four-buttons rythm minigame would play, with note bars dropping from the top of the screen towards the button to pressed.
The songs played during these minigames were :
- Forte Escape - Ask to Wind
- DJ Mocha - Fallen Angel
- NieN - Virgin Force-NB Ranger
- BEXTER - Syriana
- ESTi - Oblivion
As the event progressed and new characters entered the bar, the player had to successfully go through their story scene to continue the overall story. Unlike in the original game VA-11 Hall-A, each scene could only be cleared if the player mixed the correct drink requested by the character, with no deviation allowed.
This event offered two kinds of minigames: targets shooting with RF RicoRicoRico, with targets moving vertically on the right side of the screen, and timed puzzles where the player had to assemble the weapons of SMG HenriettaHenriettaHenrietta, SG TrielaTrielaTriela, MG ClaesClaesClaes, AR AngelicaAngelicaAngelica or RF RicoRicoRico in the shortest time possible.
In a series of optional levels, the player could enter a tactical shooting game against a static target. Controlling the character on a two-dimensional plane, the player could take cover and fire from safety, with the enemy using area-of-damage abilities to force the player to regularly change cover.
The optional level “The One Who Knocks” was a restaurant game where different kinds of dishes must be prepared in time as customers order them.
The entire event was a simulation game with five stats to increase over 13 rounds. Three stats were increased with minigames :
- Intonation was increased in “Karaoke Box” (keep the cursor within the box to score points).
- Rhythm was increased in “Dance Studio“ (press the buttons in the correct order in the allotted time).
- Vigor was increased in “Convenience Store“ (carry the bricks from the bottom to the top of the screen without becoming roadkill).
The level “Hunter's Patrol” is an action game where the female Commander must crush watermelons rolling across the stage to score points.
The levels “Target or Trap” and “Pond of Demons” can also be argued to be minigames as they both use displacement nodes to circumvent normal gameplay: the former is shaped like a Pachinko machine to randomize which enemy will be fought, while the latter is a tower defense game.

A minigame resembling Plants vs Zombie where players drop Dolls in one of three lanes to intercept incoming enemies. Deployment points and upgrade points are accumulated as time passes in combat to deploy more Dolls and upgrade them up to two times. There are multiple waves of enemies per stage, and each level is made of several stages with a final boss stage. Loot that generates currency is dropped from enemies and gathered on the field, but the amount of loot that can be cashed out is limited by backpack space. Once the final wave is defeated, players can end the stage with the Retreat button or face extra waves for more loot. Completing a stage increases the leading Doll's level.
Players assemble a team of up to seven Dolls from a stage-specific pool, depending on the amount of Dark Zone Rations they own. Up to three Dolls of the same type can be fielded. Before starting the mission, items can be bought with Dark Zone Parts and stored in the backpack for use in combat: Molotov Cocktail, Medkits, Stun Grenade and Cardiac (grants a shield). However, these items take backpack space. THis space can however be upgraded.
The minigame is accessed in the levels New Blade Chronicles I, II and III. Completing them unlocks three side-stories.
Minigames in Neural Cloud are bonus modes separate from the main event missions.
Aberrance's Chain
This event's minigame was “Flappy Eucharist”, a Flappy Bird clone where the player makes Eucharist navigate obstacles on an endless level to escape from the Reverse Tower of Babel. The scores of all players were compounded on a ladder with three rewards including event currencies, upgrade materials and furnitures.
This game makes a cameo on KuroKuro 's Idol Beat★ series costume.
Heartfelt House of Cocoa
This event's minigame was “Chocombination”, a 2048 clone where the player moves all tiles at once in one of four directions, merging colliding tiles of the same tier into one tile of the next tier to increase their score and make room for more tiles and combination opportunities. Daily challenges would reward players with event currencies for attaining a certain score threshold.
Inverted Mordent Resonance
This event's minigame was “Marvelous Mash-Up”, a physics-based Suika Game clone where players would endlessly stack balls in a limited area, scoring points for having two balls of the same size fuse together into a ball of the next size. Daily challenges would reward players with event currencies for attaining a certain score threshold.
Snowy Encounters
This event reran the three previous minigames.
Critical Cascade
This event's minigame was “Doll Rescue”, a clone of the classic Snake where a cubic Professor would collect and form a conga line of cubic Dolls.
Perilous Advancement
This event's minigame was “Eucharist Crash”, a derivative of Angry Birds where Eucharist had to be launched the highest distance possible using a series of slingshots and tornadoes while avoiding walls. The scores of all players were compounded on a ladder with three rewards including event currencies, upgrade materials and furnitures.
Entropic Dichotomy
This event's minigame was “Entropic Survivor”, a Vampire Survivor clone. Taking control of Eos, Erika, Clukay, Chanzhi or Antonina, the player must clear 19 screens by moving the character on the battlefield with the on-screen joystick to avoid enemies spawning in and survive for a certain amount of time (or by beating the Ptolemaea boss in the last screen). A critical difference with traditional Survivor-likes is that the playing field is limited and contains no obstacles. The character will attack automatically and its Ultimate skill can be activated like in normal combat. Fallen enemies drop extra HP and Cache Coins, which are spent in the shop after clearing a screen. New functions and protocols are also earned after clearing a screen. Increasing the difficulty by selecting Protocol Levels at the start of the game will increase the final score. This minigame has a story-relevant introduction scene.
Entropic Survivor was reused in several other events:
- In Retrocausal Trie Interference, under the name Entropic Survivors: Interstice, with two modes: Savior of the Black Zone (Kurisu Makise only with unique Functions, 16 levels) and Dracula of the Endless Melee (endless).
- In Singularity Immemorial, stages 12, 13, 18, 19 and 30 are Entropic Survivor levels with Xinghuan.
- In Scars Among Pigeons & Daisies, under the name Blazing Conflict, which was mandatory to play to unlock parts of the story.

Engrammatic Eclipse
The minigame event Lingering Refrain was run at the same time as Engrammatic Eclipse. It is a simple rhythm minigame with a guzheng theme, but with 21 different buttons. The minigame had a free mode and three music tracks:
- Laughter of the Waves (Normal Difficulty)
- Jasmine Flowers (Hard Difficulty)
- Butterfly Lovers (Hard Difficulty)
A fourth unused track can be found in game files.
Retrocausal Trie Interference
This collab event's minigame was “Upa Mashup”, a Steins;Gate themed Suika Game. It was available earlier than the collab event withm two modes: Mega Upa Mashup (normal mode) and Mini Upa Mashup, a reverse mode where combining the balls make them smaller. The “Metal Upa Get~” profile icon was earned from reaching 1200 points in Mini Upa Mashup.
The event also had a web story randomizer called Tale of Intersecting Dimensional Interstice.
In order from biggest to smallest balls in Mini Upa Mashup, the characters are Okabe, Mayuri, Daru, Kurisu, Luka, Faris, Omurice, Doctor Pepper, Mobile Phone and Lab Member Pin.
In order from biggest to smallest balls in Mega Upa Mashup, the characters are Okabe, Mayuri, Daru, Kurisu, Luka, Faris, Mobile Phone, Rare Upa, Lab Member Pin and Blue Upa.
Summertide Delivery
Ran at the same time as Photoluminescence. The goal is to gather ingredients and deliver them to the goal areas in time to score points.
Certain minigames are permanently playable at the Crimson Arcade in the Crew Deck.
Environmental Survey
Called “Environmental Survey” (环境勘测) in CN. Featured in Amidst Wings of Gray. A board game inspired by Luffberry Chess. Players are given a number of dices and must travel on a looped game board to accumulate as much Survey Index points as possible before running out of dices. Each Doll begins the game with a different survey equipment, and each level also has a specific debuff, so players must adapt their strategy to score points. Completing a board also grants permanent intelligence bonuses, giving the game a roguelike aspect.
Survey Index points are earned from various ways:
- Wilderness tiles grant a flat amount of Survey Index points and supplies.
- Resource tiles will either trigger a random supply event or behave the same as a wilderness tile.
- Outposts can be built and upgraded when landing on outposts tiles, in exchange for supplies. Each new outpost built or upgraded grants more Survey Index points.
- Event tiles will either grant access to Broker's Stall, where supplies can be spent to acquire new equipment, grant new survey equipment or trigger a Survey Event.
- Crossing the starting point will grant a choice of Survey Strategies buffs and access to the Broker's Stall.
- Dispatch tiles grants a new equipment.
- Combat tiles will start a dice battle. More Survey Index points are scored if the player's dice is greater than the enemy's.
- When landing on any tile, there's a chance to trigger a surprise fortune and multiply the Survey Index points in possession.
Pathforger
Called “Pioneer's Road” (开拓之路) in CN. Featured in Aphelion and Mimisbrunnr's Loop. A variation of Environmental Survey closer to Monopoly where the player can only control the Commander. The player is faced with multiple CPU opponents and compete to accumulate PathForge Index, which compounds credits and buildings owned. Contestants start with a certain amount of credits and earn more by landing on tiles, through chance games and by clashing with opponents (by comparing dice rolls). The contestant with the most credits when all dices have been used wins.
Available tiles in this mode are:
- Wilderness Tile: Gain credits (looks identical to Construction Tile but without the adjacent building slot).
- Event Tile: triggers Wheel of Fortune, Field Search or Clash.
- Resource Tile: triggers Wheel of Fortune or Field Search.
- Clash Tile: Clash with a chosen opponent.
- Support Tile: enter strategies shop.
- Construction Tile: Gain credits and grant the opportunity spend credits to add a building. Buildings can increase the amount of credits earned from specific tiles, add passive income, trigger events, increase winning chances in chance games or clashes, or cause opponents to pay a fine to the owner. Buildings can be bought by other players when they land on a built tile.
Hazard Patrol

Called “Danger Zone Patrol” (险域巡查) in CN. Featured in Sojourners of the Glass Island and Aphelion. A seven-stages rogue-lite mode on a 5×5 grid. Players choose a starting bonus in Normal mode, or debuffs in Hard mode, form a squad from their owned T-Dolls, then choose the tiles to reveal. The goal of each floor is to find the
Area Navigator to reveal the exit. The goal of the final floor is to beat the boss.
Each tile revealed costs a Charge. By default, the team starts each floor with 6 Charges and more can be gained by picking
Powerbanks. Exploring without a Charge will cause 3% damage to the team. Tiles can be empty, contain a useful item or an enemy. When an enemy is encountered, the surrounding tiles become locked. Enemies can be fought in a standard combat or eliminated immediately by spending a
Bullet item (not useable on the boss).
Other items include the
Buff Module which grants a new effect and
Repair Kit which restores 5% health for the team.
Assault Simulation
Featured in Sojourners of the Glass Island (under the name Wasteland Impact), Aphelion and Mimisbrunnr's Loop. A shooting gallery mode featuring the Dolls' costumes, and the closest thing to a GFL action game yet. It was clearly meant as a reference to the ass-tastic vistas of fellow gacha game Nikke and can even be set to auto-play just for watching...
The goal of the Challenge and Wipe Out stages is to clear all enemies within a certain time. Defend stages require to prevent enemies from lowering the HP of the defense line. Ranks go from SS to B. Each Doll has a different gameplay and different weapons can be unlocked.
Frontline Survivors
Called “Fireline Breakout” (火线突围) in CN. Featured in Halting Station and Aphelion. A Vampire Survivor-like (like Entropic Survivor in Project Neural Cloud) featuring the Dolls in their chibi form, controlled to fight against chibi enemies and bosses from the game through three difficulty levels. A choice of upgrade is offered up to level 30, any level after that gives generic bonuses. The game features white-colored enemy variants not used anywhere else in the game. The game ends when the hit count reaches zero or 20 minutes elapse.
Jump, Dinergate!
Called “Escape the ruins” (废墟脱离大作战) in CN. Featured in Silvered Whispers. A Doodle Jump-like where the player controls an orange Dinergate. Includes a variety of challenges like disappearing or moving platform as well as enemies, and power-ups like armor and various attacks. Final score depends on the height reached and the amount of coins and items gathered before falling down.
Zucchero Cat Café
Original event
Ran during Mimisbrunnr's Loop. Players simply assemble the beverages requested by clients to earn new objects to attract 58 different cats to the cat café. Different cats are obtained by combining different toys, scratching boards and decoration.
Rare cats and some uncommon cats are modeled after T-Dolls. Some must be unlocked by setting them in the right combination at a Cat Employee. Rare cats will get a visit from their T-Doll model.

Corposant update
An upgraded version of the minigame was added in CN with Corposant and in other servers with Deep Oblivion. As a result of the early integration for other servers, the minigame contains cats representing characters not yet implemented at the time.
In this version, Cat Cafe Rank increases by claiming new entries in the Coffees, Cats and Customers lists and completing Cafe Rush objectives. Increasing the Cat Cafe Rank grants resources and unlocks new Kitty Slots and Meow Mart items.
Cafe Rush is the normal mode where a set number of customers must be served, but ingredients can now run out and take a few seconds to replenish while customers have a wait gauge and must be served in time to get the maximum amount of
Approval tokens. Coffee Carnival is a time-attack mode where the goal is to serve as many customers as possible in a limited time. Each new Cafe Rush level introduces a Doll as a special customer, and completing the level will allow the Doll to appear in Coffee Carnival.
New cats are unlocked at the Meow Mart using the
Meow Meow Coins gained during Cafe Rush and Coffee Carnival. Each cat grants passive effects. Cats placed in their preferred Kitty Slot will grant more Cat Power. Cat Power is used to unlock more cats. Daiyan, Lind, Springfield, Vector and Leva appear as mysterious guests after assigning cats to certain positions, these are listed in their customer description.
This update also integrates three fan-made cats[3] from the July 2025 art contest: a Kalina cat by AlexP5, a Mo cat by シグマ and an Agent cat by 柳生翠翠.[4] These three are unlocked by default.

Rhythmic Tempo
Ran during Life Rekindled and Interstice of Reminiscence. A simple sequence minigame where the player must correctly input the directions on the screen before the timer runs out while the chibi Dolls are dancing to a song from the game's soundtrack. In the advanced version, the "Beat" button must also be hit at the correct time to fill the Beat gauge. Once filled, a rhythm game sequence must be completed with the arrow keys.
Operation Gourmand
Ran during Life Rekindled. A simple basket-catch minigame where Sabrina must catch ingredients falling from the top of the screen while avoiding unsavory items.
Memory Puzzle
Ran during Life Rekindled. Basic memory game.
Speed Blitz
Introduced with Deep Oblivion. An obstacle race minigame where the Dolls drive motorbikes and use close-range attacks and missiles to eliminate biker enemies. Regular stages are time-attack challenges while the goal of Infinite mode is to cross as much distance as possible under a time limit.
Splash Bash

A butt-fight (“keijo”) minigame first playable during Dawnforger in CN and during Corposant in other servers, accessed from the Mirage Terrace swimming pool in the Crew Deck. The player and competing Doll use attacks to drain their opponent's stamina bar and dodges to evade attacks, bound to the right and left mouse clicks. If the player lands an attack or dodges an attack three times in a row without being hit, Fever Time is activated and attacks become more powerful. Once a competitor has low stamina, a Decisive Moment is triggered to push the opponent off the platform, the player must mash the space bar to make the finisher move.
In the first minigame run, the competitors are Sabrina, Suomi and Klukai, each available in Rookie and Master difficulty. Beating Klukai in Master difficulty unlocks the Commander swimsuit costume “Leisurely Heat”.
The second run during Chiral Redundancy Part 2 had Voymastina as an opponent.
Obviously more interesting to watch with girl Commander.
Through Ice and Fire (冰焰逐跃)
Celeste-like where the player controls a Dinergate.
Minigame Events in CN
In CN, minigames were standalone limited-time events. A dedicated thread was usually opened on NGA for players to share a screenshot of their high score and have a chance to be selected at random and earn in-game currencies.

Players can access the Tactical Chess minigame in 2092R mode, which is a digital recreation played against an AI of the board game sold with preorders of the original version of Codename: Bakery Girl. Winning a game grants the One Step Ahead achievement on Steam.
The game is played with two players on a 5×7 square board, with the center tile at each end marked as each player's base. Players have access to units ranked 1 to 4 stars, and start with one 1-star and one 2-stars units on the board. Each player can move one unit per turn. 11 resources are on the board at the start, and can be collected by 1-star units only. Players can expend 1 resource to summon a 1-star, 2-stars or 4-stars unit on its base, or 2 pieces to summon a 3-stars unit. Reinforcements can only be summoned when the base tile is free, and don't end the player's turn. Each player can only have one of their 3-stars unit on the board at a time. Stars determine the attack power of a unit: if a unit attacks or is attacked by a higher-ranked enemy unit, it is destroyed. If a unit attacks another unit of the same rank, it destroys it. 4-stars units are special cases as they are also destroyed after attacking.
The game ends when one player brings a unit on the other player's base, or destroys all of the other player's units.
In the original board game, 1-stars units were represented by Scouts, 2-stars by Commandos, 4-stars by the “Big Bomb” item, and 3-stars by Jefuty for the blue player and by Noylu for the red player. In Reverse Collapse, the blue 1-star is replaced by a MID Agent, the blue 2-stars by a TASA Member, the red 2-stars by a Werewolf Commando (Skull) and 4-stars by RC Bombs. The “resources” are in fact pieces of bread.
